Use of Ultrasound Treatment to Improve Oil Extraction From Sunflower

Abstract The current study aimed to improve the extraction of sunflower oil by exposing an ultrasonic treatment at a frequency 20 Hz for different (0,5,10,15)minute, then extracting using hexane. It was noted through results obtained in that there is significant increase rate, it found highest rate (68.96%) time (10min) and lowest (22.50%) (0). physicochemical properties were studied, showed noticeable improvement those oil, density also percentage (0.926kg/cm3) (15), (0.918kg/cm3) viscosity (65c.p) (15) while (57.5c.p) recorded In refractive index, index 1.480 (1.476) (0), acidity (0.85 mg/koh/g) (0) reached (0.635mg/koh/g) (15). iodine number (122.4) 101.8 Similarly, peroxide (3.53mg/koh/g) (2.58mg/koh/g) saponification (199mg/koh/g) (188.5mg/koh/g) fatty acids exposed ultrasound extracted with hexane some acids, palmitic acid (5.93%) (4.90%) oleic (19.07%) (18.26%) linoleic (46.91%) (45.52%) similarly stearic (4.59%) (3.44%) linolenic (0.58%) (0.39%)
